A new policy intended to limit the number of bucket tosses held in Baldwin was adopted Thursday by the Board of Aldermen and will allow up to 22 of the fundraising events to be held annually.
The policy, prepared by Alderwoman Patrice Picard, designates the first and third Saturdays of each month as days that organizations may ask for donations from motorists. There will be no bucket tosses in December.
In cases of inclement weather, an approved bucket toss can be held over until the following Saturday.
Organizations will be limited to one bucket toss each per year and requests for approval will be honored on a first come first serve basis. Requests must be submitted to Town Hall by the Monday prior to the board’s regularly scheduled monthly meeting on the second Thursday of each month.
Aldermen unanimously approved the policy as well as a request by Knights of Columbus 6873 to hold a toss on March 9. That date goes against the new policy, however, the request was submitted prior to its approval. Aldermen also approved a bucket toss on Feb. 2, delayed from Jan. 5, by the Baldwin Mardi Gras Association
