Baldwin police have added to the long list of burglary arrests and charges compiled last week.

Chief Gerald Minor reported that Shawn Brent, 31, of 4272 La. 83, Glencoe, was charged on July 31 with burglary of a pharmacy.

Brent had been charged last week in connection with pharmacy burglaries in St. Mary and Iberia parishes, as well as with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated rape and car jacking. He was jailed with bond set at $500,000 as of this morning.

Franklin Police Chief Sabria McGuire also filed new charges against Brent this morning.

An investigation by the FPD into a prescription presented at Eckerd’s Drugs in Franklin led to a charge against Brent for forged prescriptions.

Minor said charges have also been filed against Brent Burgess, 22, of 115 Kelly Drive, Charenton, for simple burglary of a business in connection with a Sager-Brown Road incident. Those charges also were filed July 31. Burgess remained jailed with bond set at $100,000 as of this morning.

Burgess faces multiple other burglary charges filed by other police agencies last week.

And Baldwin police charged Jonathan Marcotte, 19, of 308 Tunica Drive, Charenton, with simple burglary of a residence in the same Sager-Brown Road incident.

Marcotte was arrested on charges in connection with multiple vehicle and residential burglaries as well as on a simple battery charge and placing combustible materials. He remains jailed with bond set at $100, as of this morning.

Minor also reported the arrest of David Washington, 28, of 137 Market Lane, Franklin, Thursday on charges of burglary of a pharmacy and criminal damage to property. He remained jailed with bond set at $50,000 as of this morning. Washington also is being held on a parole violation charge.

Shawn Joseph, 28, of 225 Martin Luther King Road, Charenton, also was charged on July 30 with vehicle burglary. He was released on $2,500 bond.
